Ayurveda: The Science of Self Healing: A Practical Guide Reviews
While this book covers all the basic topics for an introductory book... I feel it doesn't delve into enough detail. Also, the writing style is terse and doesn't flow well. It was published in 1984.
Since becoming a Reiki master I have begun serious study of other energy healing systems. I recently purchased this 175 page soft cover book (Ayurveda: The science of self-healing: a practical guide by Dr. Vasant Lad) from Amazon for a bargain price. According to the author, “Ayurveda is the oldest healing system in the world.” After reading and studying numerous books on a wide variety of energy healing methods I found this system (Ayurveda) to be the most complex method of healing.
One of the best comprehensive guides to Ayurveda, even though it is less than 200 pages. Includes a number of really useful charts and appendixes that are quick and easy references. This is a densely written book - you have to really want to know or understand Ayurveda to get through it. Not for the faint hearted.
It’s a good and helpful book to read with the many charts, diagrams, and drawings, and the 37 pictures for showing about the Yoga Asanas.
A consice, and jam packed book full of the wisdom of Ayurveda. Second to none for the beginner in my opinion. Absorbing the information of this book will leave the reader with the ability to self practice the science of Ayurveda to improve one's health.
I originally had a copy of this book, but passed it along to someone....now I'm getting back into the study of Ayurveda and I know that this is/was an excellent resource. I'm happy with it.
Very informative book. I have several of Vasant Lad's books. Very easy to understand.
A comprehensive overview of an immense topic deserving of a more in-depth approach. I don't fault the author for streamlining and hitting the main points, sometimes with just a page or two of explanation for less complicated topics. This works well enough to provide the reader with a basic understanding of the main ideas of Ayurveda and I would recommend this book.
